Hello
Thanks for reading TRANQUILITY BASE, my personal blog about art and science. I know a little about both – enough to be dangerous.
I’ve been a writer and editor for a long while now, mainly for newspapers. This blog allows me to explore topics I find fascinating and discover new things along the way.

I started out reading reprints of old pulp magazines as a kid, then transitioned to science fiction and eventually to real science books. Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” and the accompanying TV series are still among my favorites. Isaac Asimov has also been a big influence on me, both his fiction and his many, many nonfiction books.

There are many intersections between art and science, and I will use this blog to explore them, following the mantra of that great Western philosopher SpongeBob SquarePants: “With imagination, you can be anything you want.”
